McDougall Street, Wānaka

Located in central Wānaka, just a short walk from the lake, our McDougall Street development will provide much-needed affordable housing, primarily for seniors, along with a small number of homes for families.

In late 2025, the Queenstown Lakes District Council transferred its five existing senior housing units to QLCHT. These homes sit alongside an adjoining vacant section purchased by QLCHT in 2023. Together, the two sites create an opportunity for a larger, integrated redevelopment.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, the development will deliver ten one-bedroom homes for seniors and two three-bedroom homes for families. It will also include a communal laundry and shared outdoor spaces designed to encourage connection and foster a strong sense of community among residents.
