The entire process was seamless and stress-free, and we are incredibly thankful to now be living in such a beautiful new home. I first became a tenant with the QLCHT in 2015, in an affordable rental. As a single mum, this allowed my son and I to stay in the district where I grew up, without the constant stress of unaffordable rent or sudden price hikes. It was a warm, dry, newly built cottage, giving us the security and stability we needed. Paying an affordable rent meant I could start saving towards my dream of owning a home. Thanks to the Secure Home Ownership programme, that dream has now come true. The support of the Housing Trust throughout this journey has been incredible and I am so grateful for the opportunity, This programme truly changes lives, and it has certainly changed mine.

My Partner and I had been living in Queenstown for over 8 years and were rocked with complications during the birth of our first child. After months in hospital, we were in need of a stable house to return to in Queenstown. The Housing Trust team were great in walking us through which one of their programs was the right fit for us and were able to quickly get us into a property that met our needs perfectly. We now have peace of mind our house will be here for our family and we know we can stay in the region.

The professionalism, integrity and honesty of the team and its processes were transparent and flawless.

The Housing Trust has been amazing throughout. We have been kept informed every step of the way and are so grateful we have been given this opportunity to feel secure in a home whilst bringing up our daughter in Queenstown. I never thought I'd have the opportunity to own my own place. Everything is just so far out of reach for a single person these days. But with the Housing Trust, that dream is now reality. I have a secure and stable place of my own. I'm over the moon. So much stress has vanished from my life. I only wish that more people would be able to have this opportunity.

For so many of us the housing market is a seemingly impossible mountain to climb. To be a local of 20 years and having seen that mountain continue to grow steeper and steeper I had almost given up on the chance of own my own home. QLCHT was super helpful and definitely understood what it means to someone like me to be able to do this. I definitely got the sense they really want to get people like me in to not just a house, but a community. Now I'm there and I can say, you can't beat coming home from a long day to your own place.
